Climate Adaptation and the Scales of Justice

Part 1:

“Rage — whether in reaction to social injustice, or to our leaders’ insanity, or to those who threaten or harm us — is a powerful energy that, with diligent practice, can be transformed into fierce compassion.” – Bonnie Myotai Treace

So I bumped into a really old friend of mine a few days ago from way back. A person who I was close to and admired very much but had lost touch with. He is the type of person who never waits for you to finish speaking so he can have his turn to talk. Instead he listened deeply to everything I was telling him and then started to repeat everything I told him back to me to make sure he understood correctly. Below I pick up the conversation from that point. For privacy purposes, let’s call him, Pete and me, M. This is in two parts: part 1 is the conversation and part 2 is an idea that I have.

Pete: So M, you’re telling me you have been going through this since November of 2016 and maybe sooner since you might simply might have not been aware? And all this simply because you endeavor to run a climate adaptation learning blog at climatechangecommunity.com?

M: Yes, that’s right. For a long time I thought it was the cops because I had been racially profiled in a small town in Jersey and spoke up big time about it and so I thought it was ongoing retaliation. But then I realized around this time (November 2016) it was more than that.

Pete: You are telling me that you have been experiencing warrantless spying, stalking, intimidation, psychological torture (still ongoing), helicopter surveillance and subjected to the spying by use of listening devices, motion detectors, cell phone monitoring (all activities), email monitor (and manipulation), your computer was hacked three times (that you know of) and electronic devices (cell phones and tablet) stolen from your place?

M: That’s right and most of it is still going on, especially the psychological torture, which is happening daily.

Pete: Man, why haven’t you reported this, why haven’t you made other’s aware. It’s probably because you can’t prove most or some of it. Right?

M: Not entirely, I can prove ninety percent of it with some additional legal and forensic help. In fact, if we can probably follow the footprints, we would see that they directly to the phone booth that guy has in his office.

M: Pete, I want to also tell you that about two years ago, a woman who was very vocal about climate change on social media reached out me and told me to slow down or stop with the climate change quoted images, you’ll have problems or your life could be in danger, she was scared. She disappeared from social media shortly after that and I don’t think she goes online that much anymore. Then I visited another climate change activist friend who had also been very vocal and he was so petrified as if he was intimidated.

Pete: Why, haven’t you sought legal help? And how in the hell are you able to tolerate this, especially that thing you told me that happens daily that they do to break you down or irk you. Since you at least have clear proof of that, then why hold back? I am sure this all is not legal or maybe it is these days—I don’t know, yet doesn’t seem like it would be.

M: At first I was scared as hell, then I started to see these people and noticed most of them were frail, old, over-weight, plain type women, and they didn’t fit the description of police officers in plain clothes, in fact, some of them are literally senior citizens, indicating they are deputized hired-hands, if you get my drift.

M: This is when I realized this was coming directly from ‘big-money’ as they had authority over local and state police, which further indicated to me that the source would then be the unethical capitalist company and EPA heads out of Washington, more than likely running a campaign to discourage or destroy. It just made sense, common sense that is.

Pete: But how did you deal with it? Oh! Wait, don’t tell me. You’re still doing that Buddhist practice? That chanting you used to do way back.

M: You darn tooting and in fact, it has made me so much stronger beyond my belief. I actually view my situation as a benefit or an opportunity to face some issues and fears I created in the past. It is playing a big part in my developing an indestructible life-force. Aside from that I chant every single day over two-hours and thirty-five minutes for a safe and stable climate and have been for some time.

Pete: That’s awesome but what are you going to do then?

M: Well first by sharing our conversation (hope you don’t mind) I hope to get feedback on what are some of my options? Since financially I cannot afford a lawyer I am hoping some law firm or lawyer would go pro-Bono and when we win the case, we could agree on giving the settlement to a few climate change organizations I have in mind; say maybe 70% and the remainder to the lawyer. I was thinking of maybe asking the lawyer to go really big since this harassment comes from big money.

M: Aside from that, if that doesn’t pan out, I am not worried as my primary goal is to make the public aware of these tactics, to speak out sort of speak. Climate Change Community is just an average learning blog, nothing more and if it has big money (fossil fuel and others) worried then it shows they are grasping at straws since it is an industry that is literally dying.

Pete: Man, I really hope all of this works out for you and please be strong and don’t let them get to you. I am sure this will be something you will look at later in life and think that it played a big part in solidifying your life-force as you mentioned.

M: I know this sounds surprising for some but not those who are fighting for the future of humanity. And more importantly for the children and their future families we must speak out. I don’t care what religion or type of hesitation exist in your soul, the time for staying silent towards injustice has come to and end. At 6:45 am I received this email and yelled, ‘I knew it’ so loud. Check it out – Tick! I bet some of the forensic ideas and suggested investigation I have will lead right there.

“We must all work in harmony with each other to stand up for what is right, to speak up for what is fair, and to always voice any corrections so that the ignorant become informed and justice is never ignored. Every time a person allows an act of ignorance to happen, they delay our progress for true change. Every person, molecule and thing matters. We become responsible for the actions of others the instant we become conscious of what they are doing wrong and fail to remind them of what is right.” – Suzy Kassem

Part 2:

I have another idea and it involves creating a new law.

In terms of the directions we are headed in right now time is literally not on our side. The planet will more than likely revitalize herself behind all the damage we have done to her, but you cannot bring humans back from extinction once we hit that list.

Whether you are a judge, lawmaker, lawyer, law enforcement, judiciary staff or whatever – the method to see the criticality of this situation is to look at your children, grandchildren, or any child for that matter. Look at them and think what they have to face in term of their future and the planet we are leaving them. This trumps wealth and if you do not think so then your definitely a participant in destroying a sustainable future for them.

I PROPOSE WE CREATE A UNIVERSAL (WORLD-WIDE) LAW: The law would be simple; any company or individuals that are knowingly causing damage to our planet through whatever methods or that are causing obvious damage to human beings to the point of their extinction.

Shall have their entire assets minus one million dollars removed. Whether they have funds in the billions this law would still apply. The monies would then go to both creating companies owned and ran by the people, fitting state and city buildings with solar panels and creating solar and wind farms where feasible.

This means they would be left with one million dollars and the monies acquired would go to ending poverty, creating sustainable cities and states, creating citizen owned companies that are green based, and other endeavors all geared towards cleaning up our planet and empowering human beings.

This is very similar to the tribes of the past that told those who were causing damage to the well-being and existence of the tribe would be given a certain amount of provisions and told to leave. They would be barred from causing anymore damage.

In terms of reversing the damage that has already been created one of the first steps would be to read ‘The Victory Plan’ over at The Climate Mobilization website, tick. Plus see the ideas I posted on my fyi page, tick.

That’s it in a nutshell. Any lawmakers who want to help me draft this universal law proposal let me know or point me in the right direction. Perhaps this might be something that the United Nations can spearhead.

The real difficulty is with the vast wealth and power in the hands of the few and the unscrupulous who represent or control capital. Hundreds of laws of Congress and the state legislatures are in the interest of these men and against the interests of workingmen. These need to be exposed and repealed. All laws on corporations, on taxation, on trusts, wills, descent, and the like, need examination and extensive change. This is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people no longer. It is a government of corporations, by corporations, and for corporations.” – Rutherford B. Hayes

Thank you so much!
